Why forge a weapon if not to be wielded?

Why indeed? I was forged as an offering to the gods. Though once there was a mortal man who was surprisingly able to use me.

[Ah, right. He did mention about being a sword last time. She's still...not entirely sure what to think about that.

So she'll just focus on what she can wrap her head around.]

Oh? He must have been strong to be able to wield such a large weapon.

Interesting can mean a great many things.

That he could wield such a heavy sword so effortlessly...

And I rarely ever understood his actions. He was fighting on the losing side, but he fought with all his strength to the end.

[Okay. Yeah. Changge can respect that.]

He does sound interesting. I would be honoured to be able to meet him one day.

I do not know how I would react to meeting him again ...

But I wonder if he would ever come to a place like this, as some of the others' former masters have.

You won't know your feelings upon seeing him until it happens. Reunions, especially the ones you don't expect, are funny like that.

[She was still working with the arrow in her hand as she spoke up until now. Then she pauses and now she's wondering if the people she knew would show up here. (Specifically, she wondered about her dead mother.)

Then she shakes her head.]

It's best not to waste time on wondering. If he is meant to show up he will. [Best not to think about it.]

[ He looks down at her work, shifting his sword to the crook of his arm so he can fold his hands into his sleeves. He's pondering for a moment, deciding that it's highly doubtful that that man would ever show up. History itself has almost forgotten him, after all. ]

[She had avoided thinking of home since coming here. The things Ceres kept throwing at them kept her occupied enough. But once she started she couldn't help wonder about the 'what if's...]

[ He nods. And he's very much the same. Too much idle time, and thoughts start to filter in. Although more often Taroutachi thinks of Jiroutachi, and wonders if he'll return here or if they will be reunited back at the Citadel. ]

Yes, I suppose it is. Because that person has made an impression on your heart.

[ or the closest thing a sword spirit has to a heart ...?? ]

[She smiles reflexively, but the sound she makes is bitter at best, derisive at worst (but either way it was hollow and humourless).]

In my case, I'm not sure if impression is entirely the correct word for it,

[ Nods. He sympathizes to a very small degree, but overall he understands the general emotion behind her words. ]

Perhaps not. But you think of that person nonetheless, be it with fondness or contempt.

[She opens her mouth to deny that it was contempt...then she closes her mouth because why does she need to explain herself to someone else?

She just shakes her head.]

It may be easier to forget, but doing so would almost seem cruel.

There's no easy answer either way, it seems.
